Welcome to the Halifax Area School District!

Empowering & Inspiring Students to be Prepared, Engaged, & Responsible Citizens"

On November 24, 2015, the Board of School Directors validated the outstanding work of staff, students, parents, and community members by approving the organization's Comprehensive Plan for years 2016-2019. I believe the new vision statement, an integral part of the plan, sends a powerful message about the mission of the Halifax Area School District. In a democratic society, it is widely recognized that schools must go beyond teaching fundamental skills. This means educating the "whole child" by providing a safe, challenging, and supportive learning environment where a child's academic, social, and emotional intelligences are sure to thrive.

By anchoring the district's goals and actions plans to Student Achievement, Community Engagement, and Stewardship, stakeholders have committed to ensuring every student is "empowered and inspired to be a prepared, engaged, and responsible citizen." As the organization's lead learner, I remain dedicated to ensuring the objectives of the Comprehensive Plan are met.  I invite you to review the document in its entirety by clicking on the "Our District" section of the website.
