    Good evening Halifax families,

    Focus Group meeting

We had our first meeting to discuss parent pick up during dismissal on Tuesday April 10th. There is another opportunity to attend a meeting on Wednesday, April 18th @ 6:00pm in Halifax Elementary Library.  This meeting is to discuss the possibility of making changes to our current procedures, which will require parents to wait outside and not be permitted to enter the building at dismissal.  As we work on the new procedures, we would like to get your feedback.  Please consider attending the meeting to share your ideas. If you are unable to attend please consider sending an email to share your thoughts

    PSSA testing

Elementary students in grades 3-5 will participated in PSSA (Pennsylvania System of School Assessment) this week. Students completed three sections of English/Language Arts assessments.  Two sections of Mathematics will be held the mornings of April 17th and 18th

    The Little Mermaid

Many of our elementary students will be performing in The Little Mermaid on April 27th, 28th and 29th.  Prices for the show are $10.00 for adults & $5.00 for students and are reserved seats.  Show time is 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 pm on Sunday. If you wish to see where the seats are on the chart, you can stop in the HS office during school hours.

    Intruder drill

We will be conducting an intruder drill on Monday, April 23rd.  During the intruder drill students, will be asked to go to a specific area in the classroom where they cannot be seen from the hallway.  I encourage you to talk with your child about the importance to perform such a drill and to reinforce that this is just a drill.  Due to the age of the children we serve, we do not want to cause any undue stress but we do want to inform and prepare students should an emergency like this occur.  Please take a few moments with your child and let them know that the school will be conducting this drill and why it is so important.  Your child’s teacher will also be speaking to their classes about this as well.

    Report cards

Report cards were distributed yesterday, April 12th.  As I shared previously, there is not a designated time in the school calendar for spring parent teacher conferences.  If you would like to meet with your child's teacher please reach out to the teacher to schedule a time that is suitable for you both.

Planning for the 2018-2019 School Year

A parent questionnaire was sent home with students in grades 2-4.  This questionnaire is in regards to classroom placement for the 2018-2019 school year.  Please consider completing and returning the questionnaire by April 20th.

Halifax Wildcat Education Foundation Summer Camp Information was sent home yesterday.  Additional information can be found on the district website.
