Emergency/Inclement Weather Notification Information
Our goal is to make weather related decisions the night before school whenever possible. When that is not possible, we will try to have all weather-related decisions made no later than 5:30 a.m. on the morning of school.
Delays, early dismissals, and cancellations will be communicated to stakeholders via:
a. School Messenger (Automated email, text message, and/or phone call)
b. School website: www.hasd.us
c. Social media
d. Television stations: ABC 27; FOX 43; WGAL-TV 8; CBS 21; CW 15; WITF
e. Radio stations: B-98.3; 100.5; Y-106.5; ESPN 92.3 FM; WITF-FM 89.5; WKOK 1070; WEGH 107.3; WQKX 94; WVLY 100.9; WQLV-FM 98.9
To stay completely informed of all delays, early dismissals, and cancellations via our school alert system, please notify the school of any updates to your phone number or email address.
If a two (2) hour delay is announced, the bus will arrive two (2) hours later than normal. If a three (3) hour delay is announced, the bus will arrive three (3) hours later than normal. Students will be provided a lunch, but breakfast will not be served if either delay is announced. "Grab and Go" may be available at the HS.
If in-person learning is not an option, an announcement will be made if we are having Remote Instruction or a traditional School Cancellation
Halifax Elementary School Remote Instruction
Attendance Procedures:
o Students/parents will need to respond to the attendance survey link that is sent/posted in Canvas.
Assignments:
o Students will be provided asynchronous assignments from their teacher to complete at home.
o Teachers will provide instructions on how the students should submit/return the completed assignment(s).
o Parents/Guardians are encouraged to contact their child’s teacher (via email) if the child is experiencing difficulties completing the assignment(s) or has any questions.
Halifax Middle/High School Remote Instruction
Attendance Procedures:
o Students/parents will need to respond to the attendance survey link that is sent/posted in Canvas.

o Student assignments will be posted in Canvas.
o Teachers will provide instructions on how the students should submit/return the completed assignments(s).
o Parents/Guardians or students are encouraged to contact the teacher (via email) if the student is experiencing difficulties completing the assignment(s) or has any questions.
School Cancellation
If the announcement/alert states that School is Cancelled, students do not have any academic responsibilities and a make-up day will be used according to the school calendar.
