As an alternative to our Measuring School Success Report we will engage our stakeholders through a series of posts to our newly revamped web page. These posts will consist of many elements of a typical annual report, including: student demographics, financial information, but it will also paint a picture of our achievements, our focus, and our values. We continue to prepare all students for success in a changing world where they have a role i improving our world as Iron Sharpens Iron.

What are PA taxpayers getting for their $1 billion investment in cyber charter schools? Graduation rates and assessment proficiency significantly lower than traditional school districts. Check out the impact on HASD by visiting www.hasd.us

PA public school districts spend an estimated $3 billion in taxpayer money on mandatory tuition payments to cyber charter schools, which are often inflated and pay charter schools more than their actual cost of educating a student. Learn more at PACharterChange.org

The Wildcat Wellness Committee is reaching out because we would like your help! We have successfully been able to run a Girls on the Run Program here at the district for several years. However, we have never been able to secure a program for the boys until now!!! We would like to start the Let Me Run program here at Halifax for boys in grades 3 and 4. To start, we are looking to have a head coach and a few assistant coaches to run the program. “Let Me Run is a nonprofit wellness program that inspires boys to be themselves, be active, and belong. With a comprehensive curriculum that applies the power of running, the program encourages boys to develop their psychological, emotional, and social health, in addition to their physical health. Twice a week for seven weeks, two trained volunteer coaches lead an elementary or middle school team through practice. Designed to amplify confidence, self-expression, and respect for others, each practice includes a lesson from the Let Me Run curriculum that incorporates running, games and activities. Each fall and spring season culminates in a 5k race festival that celebrates the boys’ personal growth.” We are hoping to start this in March with the ending of the program being around our Country Crawl 5K, April 29th. Practice would occur twice a week for seven weeks. Practice times would be 3:30/3:45-4:45/5pm. If this sounds like something you would love to be a part of starting or would like more information, please reach out to Brooke Yeager at yeagerb@hasd.us. Wildcat Wellness Committee!
