Halifax Area School District believes that the Arts play a large part in the lives of our students and try to offer multiple opportunities for our students to shine.

Music

Instrumental Music - 4th grade band, 5th & 6th grade band, 7th & 8th grade band, and HS Band. Jazz Band and Marching Band are for grades 7-12.

Chorale Music - 4th grade chorus, 5th & 6th grade chorus, 7th & 8th grade chorus, and HS chorus.

Each year we have many students attending County Band and County Chorus and some earn the right to participate in District, Regional and State Band and Chorus.

Talent Show - Our students show off their musical talents each year at TV Night.

Electives - Guitar 1 and 2, Dynamics of Music, Digital Recording Studio, Advanced Music and Independent Music

Teaching Staff - David Eagleson, Clint Funk and Roberta Yee

Visual Art

Visual Arts at Halifax begin the moment a child walks in our doors at the elementary building. Art is mandatory for all students PK-8.

High School Electives - Art 1, Art 2, Art 3, and Art 4 - Much of the instruction is individualized to meet the needs of each student

Art Display - Student Art is displayed in all buildings during the school year and also in the District Office

Teaching Staff - Joy Brewer, Raymond Crum and Brenda Marsden

Theater

The Halifax Drama Club presents musicals each year in April. Musicals started in 1960 under the direction of William Blackway, Jr. with the production of “South Pacific” using only high school students. The current musicals now use students in Pre-K through 12.

Students not only learn “on-stage” direction but for the students who are more inclined, they learn "backstage elements" to a show.

Musicals are currently being directed by Mrs. Vicky Hoover and tryouts are in December of each school year.
